Dear Friends of the Eastern Trail, 2017 has been a year of reflection for the Eastern Trail Alliance.

[Note: The Eastern Trail Alliance has released its 2017 Annual End-of-the-Year Appeal Letter – the text of the letter is shown here]

Our founder, John Andrews left us this year with a legacy and a mission to complete the Eastern Trail. Our annual meeting focused on “Blazing a Trail South from Kennebunk to South Berwick” and our “Close the Gap” campaign has made the news with generous donations by local companies, foundations and hundreds of trail supporters.

Our Gap between South Portland and Scarborough is 1.6 miles and will cost $4.1 million to complete. $3,340,000 has been raised; we now need to raise the difference before we can break ground.

The Eastern Trail Alliance is ready, the Maine DOT is ready. The Towns are ready. Partners like Town and Country Federal Credit Union, WEX, Avangrid, IDEXX and the Thompson Family of South Portland are ready.

Every donation from the end-of-the-year appeal will go to the Close the Gap Campaign.

Please consider a contribution of $50 or more to support this exciting work and be part of Closing the Gap in 2018.

All the best to you and yours in 2018.
