Events on the Eastern Trail 2022

Upcoming So. Portland-Scarborough-OOB-Saco Section Events:

  • Bonfire & Brew event – this event, previously scheduled in Scarborough for October 6, has been postponed. We’ll provide updates here when available.
    Monday, October 10 – Eastern Trail Full Moon Walk (Hunter’s Moon), Scarborough Marsh, 6:30 – 8:00 pm. Join the Eastern Trail for a full moon walk in Scarborough Marsh.  The walks will leave from the Pine Point parking area. Groups will be limited in size to 25 people and masks/social distancing is required. Go here to register – registration required. Contact 207-284-9260 or email info@easterntrail.org. No flashlights or pets, please.
  • Saturday, October 15, Hike for Hospice, 390 US Route 1, Scarborough, 9 am. This walk supports Hospice of Southern Maine’s mission to provide compassion, care and comfort through end of life for patients with life-limiting illnesses. It starts at the Hospice Center on Route One in Scarborough and follows a route that includes the Eastern Trail. More information here.
  • Saturday, October 15, Loop & Lunch Ride, Saco. The Ugly Sweater or Retro Ride— meet in Saco, at the former turnpike exit, which is 353 North St.(Route 112) —it is opposite Lund Rd. (More complete directions will be forthcoming. Parking is no longer available at Thornton Academy.) Ride will be along the Eastern Trail to Pine Point, OOB, Camp Ellis with lunch at Cia’s in Saco. Approx. 26 miles. You must register ahead of time for each ride. Please email Bob LaNigra to register and if you have questions.
  • Tuesday, November 8 – Eastern Trail Full Moon Walk (Beaver Moon), Scarborough Marsh, 4:30 – 6:00 pm. Join the Eastern Trail for a full moon walk in Scarborough Marsh.  The walks will leave from the Pine Point parking area. Upcoming Biddeford-Arundel-Kennebunk Section Events:

  • Eastern Trail Feasibility Study. The municipalities of Saco and Biddeford, in cooperation with the Eastern Trail Alliance (ETA), Eastern Trail Management District (ETMD), Maine Department of Transportation (MaineDOT) and VHB, held two public meetings as part of the Eastern Trail Feasibility Study within these municipalities.  The Final Report for this study can be viewed here.
  • No other events scheduled at this time.

Upcoming Eliot, South Berwick, Berwick, North Berwick, Wells Section Events:

  • Saturday, September 24, Loop & Lunch Ride, Wells. Meet at the Wells Amtrak Transportation Center, at 9:00 am and be prepared to ride by 9:30 am. Course will be along the Eastern Trail, on back country roads, winding our way to Ogunquit, then to Wells Beach and back. Lunch will be at Fisherman’s Catch or Hobbs Harborside. Approx. 30 miles.  You must register ahead of time for each ride. Please email Bob LaNigra to register and if you have questions.
  • Eastern Trail Feasibility Study. The municipalities of North Berwick, Wells, and Kennebunk, in cooperation with the Eastern Trail Alliance (ETA), Eastern Trail Management District (ETMD), Maine Department of Transportation (MaineDOT) and VHB, held two public meetings as part of the Eastern Trail Feasibility Study within these municipalities. Group Trail Events:

  • Lunch and Loop Rides are back for 2022. These are intended to acquaint participants with the beauty of the Eastern Trail and increase two-wheeled camaraderie, and usually range from three to five bike rides. To allow riders to enjoy Maine’s seasonal changes, ride organizers Russ Lamer and Bob LaNigra.  Go here to read about past Loop and Lunch Rides.
  • Happy people enjoying the Eastern Trail!Full Moon walks are scheduled throughout the year, often every month – walking in the summer, snowshoeing and skiing as possible in the winter. Groups will be limited in size to 25 people and masks/social distancing is required. No flashlights or pets, please.
