BIDDEFORD — A new trail sign was installed recently on the Biddeford portion of the Eastern Trail.

When completed, the trail will run 65 miles from Kittery to South Portland.

The artwork on the new sign depicts beavers and other area wildlife, and was created by artist Jada Fitch.

“She’s done a great job. They both look like National Park-quality pieces,” said Eastern Trail Management District Executive Director Carole Brush.

The signs will highlight local history and habitats, and Brush hopes they will spark people’s interest in learning more about the area.

This is the second such sign on the trail. The first was installed in South Portland, and more are planned.

Also new on the trail is its first water fountain, which was recently installed at the Mill Brook office park entrance in Saco.
