MLR – Century Ride

Maine Lighthouse Ride logoFor 2020, the Maine Lighthouse Ride has been renamed the Maine Lighthouse Experience and will take place the week of September 5-12, offering participants a ‘do it yourself’ flavor! We’re challenging YOU to choose your own path, distance, and experience.

To help you design your best Maine Lighthouse Experience, we provide on this page information on the Century (100 miles) ride option.

The 100-mile 9 Lighthouse Century ride includes all of the beautiful scenery of the other rides, as well as a jaunt through Old Orchard Beach and Saco to the quaint village of Kennebunkport, the summer home of George H.W. Bush. Maps of the route appear lower on this page.

This is truly a spectacular century characterized by flat to rolling terrain, beautiful ocean views, and four rest stops staffed with friendly Eastern Trail volunteers.

scarmarshThis ride takes 7 to 10 hours.  This ride also includes a 3-mile crossing of the beautiful Scarborough Marsh on the Eastern Trail (crossed both going out and return trip). The trail has a fine, packed gravel surface which is suitable for road bikes travelling at 10 mph. The remainder of the ride is on paved public roads.
