About the Maine Lighthouse Ride
The Maine Lighthouse Ride is more than a bike ride—it’s a celebration of Maine’s spectacular coastline, vibrant cycling community, and the simple joy of spending a day on two wheels.
Each year, nearly 1,000 cyclists gather at the beautiful waterfront campus of Southern Maine Community College in South Portland to experience one of Maine’s premier cycling events. From the moment you roll out overlooking Casco Bay to your final miles along the coast, you’ll be treated to breathtaking ocean views, iconic lighthouses, charming seaside communities, the beauty of the Scarborough Marsh, and some of the most scenic roads in New England.
Choose from 25-, 40-, 62-, or 100-mile routes, each designed to showcase the best of southern Maine while providing a safe, supported, and memorable experience for riders of all abilities. Along the way, you’ll enjoy five well-stocked rest stops filled with rider favorites, friendly volunteers, and plenty of encouragement to keep you moving.
Need a bike? Our friends at Gorham Bike & Ski offer rental bikes for the event and will be onsite throughout the day with expert support, gear, and cycling essentials. Go here for more information and reserve a bike.
When the ride is over, the celebration begins. Join fellow cyclists back at Southern Maine Community College for a lively post-ride gathering featuring delicious food, live music, and refreshing Maine craft beer. It’s the perfect opportunity to swap stories from the road, reconnect with friends, and celebrate an unforgettable day of riding.
Most importantly, your participation has a lasting impact. The Maine Lighthouse Ride is the largest fundraising event supporting the Eastern Trail Alliance, helping to maintain, improve, and promote the Eastern Trail for the thousands of people who walk, run, bike, and enjoy it each year. Every registration helps support trail stewardship, safety improvements, advocacy efforts, and the continued growth of this treasured community resource.

Proceeds Benefit the Eastern Trail Alliance
Your participation supports the Eastern Trail Alliance, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that builds, maintains, and promotes the Eastern Trail, southern Maine’s premier multi-use greenway.
As the Eastern Trail’s largest fundraiser, your participation will help the organization continue its mission to provide a four-season corridor for cyclists, hikers, inline-skaters, cross-country skiers, and snowshoe enthusiasts to travel through southern Maine.
