Schedules posted to my Web Site can easily become out date, and I may have totally missed the 'tourist trolleys' that serve the coastal beaches. But if your folks will let me know whenever schedules change, I will update my site as soon as I have the new timetable in hand! I am told that the following busses (and trains) have bike racks: * All South Portland busses - serve all parts of the original South Portland Greenbelt (weekday & Saturday). * All Portland Metro busses have racks - free transfer to S-P routes on Congress Street in Portland. Routes 1, 4, & 5 also run on Sunday, thus a spur over the Casco Bay Bridge to Congress & Forest would be rather important. * The city bus ride to the Portland Amtrak station could easily substitute for an on-road route. * Shuttlebus Portland Route stops at selected points along the route from Oak Hill to Downtown Biddeford. * Shuttlebus Tri-town Routes stops frequently along the route from Old Orchard Beach C of C to SMMC. * Zoom stops at Biddeford Park & Ride near SMMC at the Turnpike exit. They also stop at the Saco Park & Ride (Old exit?) That bus runs weekday rush-hours only. * COAST Trolley is the only COAST route that currently has bike racks and that bus stops in Market Square, Portsmouth (Weekdays & Saturday). * Bike racks have been promised for COAST and Wildcat busses when new busses FINALLY arrive. Spurs to Market Square in Portsmouth, and to the Dover Train Station should likewise take care of those bus routes. If you patiently wait until Amtrak begins operation, the train will take you and your bike from Saco to Dover. In the interim, the only public transit alternative is to ride Shuttlebus to Portland, then box your bike for the trip to Portsmouth via Vermont Transit! Kenyon F.
