Scarborough Marsh Sanitary District Bridge TO GO - After months of
negotiations Scarborough Sanitary District Trustees voted five-to-two to
spend more than $90K to move its waste water pipe beneath the new ET
bridge over the Dunstan River. And, Scarborough Town Council voted
seven-to-none to support the move by providing more than $40K to help pay
for moving the sewer pipe. We will have a happy trail with beautiful clear
views up and down river across Maine’s largest saltwater marsh.
We all owe great thanks to many people but especially to Scarborough
Council, and Scarborough Sanitary District Trustees. We thank ETA Trustee
Tom Daley for his hard working effort to gain this support, and ETMD Staff
Consultant Steve Workman for coordinating with CPM Constructors.
Scarborough Marsh Trail CLOSED for Construction - World famous
Scarborough Marsh trail is closed for construction. To allow workers to
proceed without distractions and to protect the public from construction
activities, the marsh trail is now closed. This poster child for the ET will
reopen in time for fall foliage season with a wonderful new 12-foot wide
trail and bridge. For a peek at construction see photos at
www.workmanconsult.com
Will Gas Company Block ET from Crossing Saco River? - Granite
State Gas, a subsidiary of NiSource, has asked Biddeford and Saco city
governments to support its plan to move its gas pipe from the existing
Guilford railroad bridge to a location drilled under the Saco River this
summer. If successful, this relocation, below where ET engineers recommend
building the ET bridge across the Saco, could block, or complicate the ET
from crossing the Saco.
Maine Games Inaugural Cross-Country Race a winner - Bob LaNigra,
ETA’s Secretary, and Jeff Scully, Executive Director of Maine Games, should
be delighted with their first-ever jointly sponsored 5K cross-country race.
On a bright sunny 12 June runners from as far away as Arizona came to race.
U.S Master Runner Bob Winn of Ogunquit delighted all by participating.
Twenty sailors from Brunswick NAS helped coordinate the day. We look forward
to 2005.

Secret to Ultimate ET Success? - “Nothing in the world can take
the place of persistence. Talent will not; nothing is more common than
unsuccessful men with talent. Genius will not; unrewarded genius is almost a
parable. Education will not; the world is full of educated derelicts.
Persistence and determination alone are omnipotent.”
- Former U.S. President Calvin Coolidge
