Happy people enjoying the Eastern Trail!

There are many fun events that take place on a regular basis on the Eastern Trail! You can also find additional events on our online ETA Calendar.

Events on this page are organized with Trailwide events first, then specific sections:  So. Portland-Scarborough-OOB-Saco, Biddeford-Arundel-Kennebunk, and Eliot, South Berwick, Berwick, Kittery, North Berwick, Wells.  At times we will also list other interesting Maine, New England region and national trail events here.

Upcoming Trailwide Events:

  • Wednesday May 16 - Eastern Trail Alliance Annual Meeting, 6 - 8 pm, Vinegar Hill Music Theatre, Arundel.  “The Health and Economic Benefits of the Eastern Trail.”  Please join us to discuss the health and economic benefits of the Eastern Trail and hear about recent developments to continue the trail south through Kennebunk toward South Berwick.  Light appetizers provided; cash bar available.   • Saturday April 21 - Scarborough Marsh Earth Day Clean Up, 9 am - 12:00 noon, Scarborough Marsh, 92 Pine Point Rd Scarborough, ME 04074 (map). Spring is here and it will soon be time to clean up the marsh, beaches, the Nature Center, and the grounds for the new season. Join Maine Audubon, Friends of Scarborough Marsh, and the Scarborough community for a work day, and help make our corner of the earth a better place. Groups are welcome!   • Sunday April 22 - Earth Day Celebration - Scarborough Public Library, 12:00 noon - 3 pm, 92 Pine Point Rd Scarborough, ME 04074 (map).Join the ETA and other participating groups in this event that will celebrate two new ReVision Energy solar installations at the Library: an electric vehicle (EV) charging station and a rooftop solar panel array. Earth Day activities will include an appearance by News Center Maine meteorologist Jessica Conley and weather van Stormy, live music by The Incredulous String Band, electric vehicle demonstrations, a Minecraft Lab where players can build virtual solar arrays in the Library’s Minecraft world, and exhibits by these community organizations:| More information here.
  • Saturday April 28 - Missa Gaia Benefit Concert to Benefit the Eastern Trail, 7 - 8:30 pm, St Luke's Cathedral, 143 State St, Portland (map). Saco's Voices in Harmony Choir Director, Camille Saucier is producing a concert with Paul Winter & his Consort to support the Eastern Trail on April 28th at 7:30pm. This 7-time Grammy Award Artist's composition honors the earth and our responsibility to maintain & respect her gifts. This performance includes three choirs with over 180 singers and will take place at Portland's St. Luke's Cathedral on State Street. Sorry - this event is sold out!
  • Sunday April 29 - ET Full Moon Walk, 8 - 9:30 pm, Scarborough - ETA Parking lot - Pine Point Road - Scarborough Marsh (map). Join our Eastern Trail Director, Carole Brush, to watch the moon rise over the marsh, look for animals, learn about the trail, enjoy conversation and walk in the light of the full BLUE moon.   • Sunday July 1 - MEND the Gap 10k Race (First Annual), 8 am, Peterson Sports Complex • 135 Old Blue Point Road Scarborough (map). Please join us for our 1st annual MEND the Gap 10K – July 1st– 8:00 AM sponsored by MEND Health & Wellness of Maine. Proceeds from this event benefit the Eastern Trail Alliance, and will go directly to support the Close the Gap Campaign.More information here.

  • Sunday April 22 - Celebration of the Earth & Science - Kennebunk - The Waterhouse Center, 51-, 55 Main St, Kennebunk, ME 04043, USA (map).Join the Eastern Trail at this special Earth Event - "What would Rachel do?" referring to the wonderful environmentalist and author, Rachel Carson. Here are some exciting group trail events planned for 2018:

  • Maine Lighthouse Ride — Our Biggest Event takes place September 8, 2018. This is our premier event for the year, and once again will be capped at 1200 registered riders! Each year we sell out earlty, so register now! Four great ride options:
    • Century  (100-mile) 7:30 am (See all 9 lighthouses.)
    • 62-mile   (metric century) 8:15 am (8 lighthouses visible)
    • 40-mile   9:00 am (8 lighthouses visible)
    • 25-mile   9:45 am (7 lighthouses visible)
  • Lunch and Loop Rides. To acquaint participants with the beauty of the Eastern Trail and increase twowheeled camaraderie, the Eastern Trail Alliance will sponsor from three to five bike rides. To allow riders to enjoy Maine’s seasonal changes, ride organizer Russ Lamer will lead them from Spring through Fall. More information here.
  • Happy people enjoying the Eastern Trail!ET Moonlight treks are scheduled throughout the year, often every month -— walking in the summer, snowshoeing and skiing as possible in the winter.

Other Maine, New England Region and National Trail Events:

  • Sunday, April 22, Great Maine Bike Swap, Portland, 10am – 1pm, Sullivan Recreation and Fitness Complex, 66 Falmouth Road, University of Southern Maine. Drop off bikes on Saturday, April 21 in the evening between 3-6 p.m. More info here.

  • April 26-27, New England Bike-Walk Summit, Boston. Join fellow greenways and trails advocates and partners for our fifth New England Bike-Walk Summit, April 26-27. We’ll share best practices, build relationships, and inspire more trail and greenway development throughout New England. Our own Carole Brush and PACTS representative Paul Niehoff will be presenting!.  More information here.
