| The Eastern Trail Alliance joined this
coalition to help get the MDOT bond passed with its $250K for the Eastern
Trail. Please read the letter below and the files we have received
(bottom of this page) from the Coalition, and please consider supporting
this very worthy effort.
The text of the letter we received:
Thank you for joining the Keep Maine Moving Coalition, formed to promote
Question #3, the $61 million transportation bond on the November 6 ballot.
The bond issue will leverage nearly $120 million in federal funds and will
pay for road, airport, marine and rail improvements, trail and transit
projects, fishing & boating enhancements, as well as improvements to crucial
snowmobile bridges. We hope that you can help us promote the bond issue to
your members and the media in the next few weeks. Attached are fact sheets
and project lists for you to share with your members. Currently, we are
raising funds to conduct a modest television advertising campaign beginning
8 to ten days before the Election, as well as broadening our Coalition to
develop a strong outreach effort. Please consider emailing information to
your members and to other groups that may be interested in seeing the bond
package pass. Our concern is voter turnout, as there are no legislative or
statewide elections, nor are there any controversial referendum issues on
the November ballot.
We are in the process of developing a website which will be available at
www.mbtaonline.org/bondissue, and are scheduling editorial board meetings
with key newspapers. If you are interested in generating some local press
stories, please let me know and we will assist in that effort.
The Coalition also asks that you assist us by writing letters to the editor
of your local paper and describe why passing the transportation bond is
important to your organization.
Thank you in advance for your help in promoting Question #3. Please call me
if you have any questions.
